The First Meeting

The First Meeting is an initial assessment and gives you the opportunity to find out more about our services and the sort of support we can offer. It also helps us ensure that we are the most appropriate service to be working with you.

The meeting will take place face to face at our office located in Southend City Centre (we also have spaces in Rochford and Canvey Island) or if you prefer online or on the phone. The meeting lasts for up to an hour.

During the First Meeting we focus on how things are for you currently. There is no need, or expectation, for you to talk in any detail about what has happened to you.  We appreciate how anxiety provoking a meeting like this can be, and our aim is always to make this experience as comfortable and safe for you as we possibly can.

Waiting Lists

Like most services we do have a waiting list for counselling and advocacy support services. We try to keep our waiting time below four months but this is not always possible.

But we do try to support you while you are on our waiting list. You can access one off holding sessions by ringing our Southend office number, you can also ring the Rape Crisis National Support number which is open 24/7. These calls are a safe space to discuss what is going on for you whilst you’re waiting for regular direct support.

We also offer young people and adult weekly well-being groups which you can access while you are waiting and continue when you start you regular support. During your first meeting your worker will inform you of what groups we have available but please contact us to find out more
