Sexual violence is a term that includes any sexual behaviours that are unwanted or that happen without a person's consent. Sexual violence does not have to involve physical contact. It includes rape, sexual assault, sexual abuse, sexual domestic violence, child sexual abuse, online grooming and indecent images of children.

SOS Rape Crisis

SOSRC (Southend on Sea Rape Crisis) is the only specialist service in South East Essex that provides support for adults and children who have been impacted directly or indirectly by sexual violence at any time in their lives. We aim to address the trauma and injustice of sexual abuse through specialist advocacy, counselling, training, and prevention services.

Women-Only Spaces

SOSRC recognises that women who have experienced sexual violence may need safe, women-only spaces. Part of our premises is designated as a women-only safe space.  Other rooms we use are located in shared buildings, but the SOSRC main office will always be a women-only space.
